WG1- Geodetic observation-level modelling and systematic biases:

The objective of this group is to investigate the aspects related to optimal observation-level modelling and methods for mitigating systematic errors of relevance to velocity determination. Consistency between different techniques will be examined. The main focus will be on those models, which are not yet included in international standards (such as the IERS2003 Conventions document) or that may no longer be fit-for-purpose. For example, it became obvious that existing tropospheric delay models were insufficient for Antarctica, because in that region the tropospheric activity is very localised. More investigations need to be carried out in this respect. Revised GNSS/VLBI/SLR/DORIS data analysis software packages will be part of the final output. Primary areas of interest include the following tasks (T1-T11):

T1 Quality of atmospheric loading displacement corrections (sub-daily and seasonal/secular trends between atmospheric models)

T2 Ocean loading displacement corrections

T3 Tropospheric modelling/mapping function errors

T4 Effect of thermal expansion on VLBI (and some GPS monuments)

T5 Reference pressure and temperature

T6 Technical aspects, such as sensitivity to different receiver and antenna phase centre models

T7 GNSS orbit modelling (albedo, radiation pressure, ...)

T8 Reference frame definition for the loading corrections

T9 Ionospheric corrections (scintillations, 3rd order effects)

T10 improved solid Earth tide models

T11 GPS carrier phase multipath
