Working Group 2

WG2- Velocity determination/reference frame realization: the objective of this group is related to the remaining aspects of Task 1 and all of Task 2. That is, to produce/compare GNSS/VLBI/SLR/DORIS solutions, optimally combine the various solutions, investigate solution/technique specific biases (reporting back to WG1) and produce an optimal set of station coordinates/velocities. Of particular interest are:

• Theoretical approaches to the combination of heterogeneous data types including seasonal signals and time series with non-white noise

• Quality of local inter-technique site ties

• Level of solution-specific biases

• Ability of reprocessed techniques to contribute to reference frame definition in new ways (i.e., DORIS/GPS to geocentre)

• Long-term changes in the accuracy of the reference frame and solutions within it

• Solution of the terrestrial reference frame that is consistent with the celestial reference frame (CRF) and the Earth orientation parameters (EOP)

• Simulations of VLBI networks in the framework of the IVS ‘VLBI2010’ project including more stations in Antarctica and their impact on the TRF realization.
